Trace Adkins and his family have been staying in their weekend home, a farm near Nashville, since a fire destroyed their home in Brentwood, Tennessee. Following the fire, Trace was flooded with offers of help from friends and fans alike. While Trace appreciates the outpouring of good will, he has asked that offers of help be directed elsewhere.
“We are blessed and very fortunate,” Trace told the Patriot Ledger. “We are not destitute. There are people who aren’t as fortunate as we are who really need help. In light of all the tornadoes and the flooding in the South this year, we wanted to make sure that my fans directed their generosity that way. I’ve already accepted that I probably lost everything that was in that house. All that really matters, however, is that we have a place to stay and the kids are safe. I have a saying, ‘Get out of the problem, get into the solution,’ which I’ve always believed was the right thing to do.”
Trace’s new album, Proud To Be Here, will hit stores August 2. For the album, Trace worked with a new producer, Mark Wright, and the outcome is something he is proud of.
“This is my first time in the studio with (producer) Mark Wright,” Trace told the paper. “He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business, everyone from George Strait to Brooks and Dunn and Reba McEntire. His pedigree as songwriter and record producer is bar none. It was great to work with Mark and with Kenny Beard, who was his co-producer. I’m really proud of this new album. It has one of the most hardcore country songs, ‘Poor Folks,’ on it that I have recorded in years.”
Trace’s first single from the album, “Just Fishin’,” is a hit both on the radio and on our Top 20 Country Countdown. Go behind the scenes of the video HERE.

I want to thank Trace for the song She Thinks Were Just Fishin. I am one of 6 girls and my father used to take us fishing. I have such fond memories of that. Since my father died at 49 when I was just 11 this song really pulls my heart strings. I’m glad we got to experience the memories with him. This song brings a smile to my face every time I hear it.

I really look forward to another of Trace’s CDs…plus knowing Ray Scott and Aly Cutter have tracks on this really adds to the anticipation level! So sorry for Trace and Rhonda’s house burning down but we can all learn from their attitudes of gratitude.

Love your music Trace, it hits home on so many levels, I struggle with supporting my family like most everyone I know and your music gives us some comfort knowing someone out there understands. We live in Cullman Alabama, one of the many areas that was affected by the tornadoes and we appreciate your gratitude even though you are going through difficult times yourself, hope everything is o.k. with you and yours, keep doing what you do man.

I really love the new album and the “Just Fishin’” video. I am disappointed the video didn’t go to #1 on CMT’s Top 20 Video Countdown. (I think there is something wrong with CMT’s Top 20 Video Countdown when the same one stays at #1 for 2 or 3 months. Its always the same few dominating the top of the chart and that disappoints me.)
But Trace, this song and video is so special, it should have earned you some award recognition. I hope next year you will have a nomination for single, video, album of the year and Male Vocalist. I really believe you deserve it more than any of the candidates who did get nominated this week.

I predict that the song on this CD called “If I Was a A Woman” that he does with the guy from “Hillbilly Bone” who’s not very good looking is released it will be a big hit. Just kidding, Blake is cute, but Trace is a MAN and all alpha male. I also love “Million Dollar View”. Great CD. I agree, Trace should be number one on CMT’s charts, but unfortunately, like a lot of the media ratings, CMT’s seem to be determined by teenyboppers who like those skinny country guys and bubble gum country singers like Taylor Swift. Please deliver me from that…..I want a man that looks like a man and Trace is the only one who comes close.
