FOR TRACE ADKINS, JOHN WAYNE WAS THE ESSENCE OF BEING A COWBOY

Dial Global

Trace Adkins may not have spent a lot of time punchin’ doggies out on the range, but in many of the ways that truly count, he’s all cowboy. And, with Cowboy’s Back in Town as the title of his latest CD, it seemed a good time for the big ex-oil field roughneck to chat with Country Kickers about the characteristics of cowboys that Trace truly admires. He’s often said one of his favorite movie quotes is from cowboy Woodrow Call in Lonesome Dove: “I hate rude behavior in a man. I won’t tolerate it.” And a quote from western icon John Wayne also draws praise from Trace in its description of what a cowboy is. Not surprisingly, the quote pretty much describes Trace, too. “Lonesome Dove” is one of my all time favorite movies and any western that John Wayne made has my attention. Love them all.
